Matthew is a 2001 Graduate of Tyler School of Art @ Temple University where he worked and studied in the highly regarded painting department. Matthew started his career while in college, working in Woodbine, NJ making backdrops for many of the Atlantic City Casino stages. This job as a painter later led into a muralist position for the Philadelphia Mural Arts Project under Jane Golden.

Matthew has been teaching fine art to teenagers in Millville, NJ for 16 years at this point in his career. He is an avid advocate for the fine arts in Cumberland County, working with many fine arts programs and institutes to provide new programming to the people of Southern New Jersey. He is the Assistant Director of the Maurice River School of Painters, a faculty member at Millville Senior High School, a board member of the RRCA and Instructor at the Barn Studio of Art. Matthew has worked hand in hand with the Riverfront Renaissance Center for the Arts on many projects and grants including: Fine arts shows for students and professionals alike; a mural program, which brought improvements to the downtown area.  As well as, a high school visiting artist program that gave opportunity to students to interact professionals in the fine arts field.

Over the past years Matthew has hosted a county wide portfolio review for prospective fine arts students at the center. Matthew was a feature in the documentary “the Art Spirit: the Story of Pat Witt” while teaching his teen group at the Barn Studio of Art that aired on the “NJ Docs” program on NJTV. He was also a featured guest on the Emmy Award nominated “Art C with Bill Horn” for his work at the Barn Studio of Art.   “Working side by side with my mentor, Pat Witt, has been one of the most rewarding opportunities of my life!”

Matthew has recently started to work with the nonprofit “True Renaissance” to bring fine oil paintings to his students for study and was a front page feature in the newspaper “the Daily Journal” for this effort. Matthew was recognized by Millville Senior High for his contributions to the arts in March 2014 with an award that held great significance to this Millville native.  Matthew is also a working artist participating in various group shows in Southern NJ throughout each year.
