“I fear this power of speech has robbed us of our senses.  On a world composed of 70% water, one might reasonably expect to find that a world’s highest life form there, in the water. Birth and a lifelong struggle with gravity are not becoming to a world’s highest life form. Put another way, perhaps this world’s highest life form is not the teller of this tale.”

“In Terri Amig’s work I don’t see, so much as sense, the dignity swimming in these intimate portraits, these life forms, brimming through invisible swirls of oil. While my own words plod through the thick everyday tangles of language, these creatures make it stunningly obvious that this world’s highest life form has yet to be discovered.”

Gene Hosey, poet

“Animals”  Poem by Frank O’Hara 1950

Have you forgotten what we were like then

when we were still first rate

and the day came fat with an apple in its mouth

it’s no use worrying about time

but we did have a few tricks up our sleeves

and turned some sharp corners

the whole pasture looked like our meal

we didn’t need speedometers

we could manage cocktails out of ice and water

I wouldn’t want to be faster

or greener than now if you were with me O you

were the best of all my days
